20 Nov 2020 - DPW Site Visit - Sarawak Museum Campus and Heritage Trail

Venue: Kuching

YBhg. Datu Ir. Haji Zuraimi Bin Haji Sabki (Director of Public Works Sarawak) visited the project site for The Proposed Sarawak Museum Campus and Heritage Trail, Kuching this evening to inspect the current physical progress of the Project. During the site visit, the entourage were briefed on the physical progress and works to be completed. The Stage 1 (Part 1) of the Project, covering the scope of the construction of the New Museum Building has been completed and the Certificate of Practical Completion (CPC) was issued on 18th May 2019. Stage 1 (Part 2) scope of works comprises of Exhibitory to New Sarawak Museum. As of current, the exhibitory works (including showcases installation, conservation of artefacts, conservation equipment, office furnishings and storage provision) are still ongoing and are expected to be completed in April 2021.

After the site visit to the New Museum, the entourage also paid a visit to Stage 2 of the Project, which encompasses the scope of refurbishment of 4 Existing Buildings (Old Museum, Plant House, Curator’s Office and Spirit House), Heritage Trail and Historical Research & Building survey. The construction works of the stage 2 is still ongoing, with physical progress of 70.23% (actual) vs 67.65% (scheduled), which is 2.58% ahead of progress for the month of October 2020 and expected to be completed in May 2021.

Also present during the site visit were, Mr. Tazudin Mohtar (Director, Sarawak Museum Department), Officers from JKR Headquarters, JKR Southern Regional Office, Design and Build Contractor and Consultants.
