The construction of Kuala Kemena Bridge project which will cross the Batang Kemena river is expected to cost around RM467 million which will be funded by Sarawak State Government.

During the ground breaking ceremony for this project, Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak stated that he hopes that with the construction of this bridge, it will be able to benefit all the surrounding areas economically.

The ceremony was also attended by Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr. James Jemut Masing, Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Infrastructure Development and Transportation Sarawak, Datuk Haji Julaihi Bin Haji Narawi, as the Organizing Chairman cum Assistant Minister for Coastal Roads and other ministers from the State Cabinet.

The contract which is worth RM467 million was awarded to PPES-CCCC JV and the symbolic handing over of Surat Setuju Terima Projek by Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg was held in the afternoon.

The construction of this bridge is also complemented with a flyover that will serve the traffic at the Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi / Jalan Tun Razak / Jalan Abang Galau junction. The bridge will be implementing the Cable-stayed bridge technology and will be equipped with proper drainage, street lighting and road furnitures. The project is expected to be completed in 48 months.
