abatan Kerja Raya Sarawak (JKR Sarawak) reaffirmed its commitment to professional excellence through the successful conclusion of "Empowering Collaboration: Strategic Engagement with Consultants 2025" at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK). This high-level strategic dialogue brought together local consultants across multiple disciplines including architecture, civil and structural engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, quantity surveying, land surveying, and road safety auditing, alongside special representatives from the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) Fee Scale Committee to enrich industry discussions.

The program focused on five critical areas for service improvement: current government policies and procedures, review of BEM Scale of Fees (SOF), Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) requirements, adoption of emerging technologies like Building Information Modelling (BIM), and continuous competency enhancement among consultants. YBrs. Adj. Prof. Ir. Ts. Gs. Dr. Cassidy Anak Morris, Director of Public Works Sarawak and Chairman of BEM's SOF Committee, emphasized the department's proactive role in fee structure reforms, stating: "As custodians of professional standards, we are committed to regularly reviewing the SOF to ensure fair industry practices."

The closing ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Datuk Ir. Aidel Lariwoo, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development (Infrastructure), representing Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Premier Sarawak. In his keynote address, YB Datuk Ir. Aidel outlined the Sarawak Government's support for local consultancy growth: "We anticipate this sector developing greater capability and future-readiness. Policy reviews like SOF and PII requirements will be matched by our expectations of professional excellence and innovation." The event was attended by Datu Chiew Chee Yau, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development Sarawak, and JKR Sarawak's senior management.

This initiative underscores JKR Sarawak's strategic vision to cultivate a more sustainable, efficient, and high-impact construction ecosystem through strengthened partnerships with local professionals, aligning with Sarawak's Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030 objectives.
