Launch of First AI CCTV at P-Turn Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak, Selangau, Sibu Division

The Public Works Department Sarawak has implemented the Launch Ceremony of the First AI CCTV at the P-Turn of the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak in Selangau, Sibu Division, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance road safety, particularly in the Selangau P-Turn area, which has been identified as having high traffic flow and a higher risk of accidents.

The launch ceremony was officiated by the Director of Public Works Sarawak, YBhg. Datu Adj. Prof. Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr. Dr. Cassidy anak Morris, who emphasised that the installation of the first artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled CCTV system along the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak represents a proactive step in strengthening road safety measures as well as monitoring public environmental cleanliness, in line with the state’s aspiration towards smart city development. He also called on all stakeholders to fully utilise this technology while reminding road users to remain vigilant, adhere to traffic regulations, and prioritise safety for the well-being of all.

The implementation of the AI CCTV system is expected to enable more effective traffic monitoring, thereby supporting accident prevention initiatives and improving traffic management in the Selangau area and the wider Sibu Division. The Public Works Department Sarawak remains committed to enhancing road safety infrastructure through innovative approaches for the benefit and safety of all road users.
