Deputy Premier of Sarawak Meet Up with JKR Sarawak Contingent for SURYA

YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Premier Sarawak, Second Minister for Finance and New Economy & Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development Sarawak had met the JKR Sarawak contingent who will be participating in the 5th Karnival JKR SeMalaysia (SURYA). The sports carnival, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, will also be attended by YB Datuk Ir. Aidel Lariwoo, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Ports Development (Infrastructure Development), Datu Chiew Chee Yau, Permanent Secretary (MIPD) and JKR Sarawak Top Management.
In his launching speech, YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah had expressed his pride towards JKR Sarawak contingent and he hoped that they will be able to excellently represent Sarawak in this biennial sporting event. He had also emphasized on the importance of Sarawak government support in sports development, especially to JKR Sarawak teams.
Prior to that, Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. Dr. Cassidy anak Morris, Director of Public Works Sarawak, who is also the Contingent Leader, had expressed his gratitude towards YB Datuk Amar and his team for their full commitment and support. This will become the key to ensure JKR Sarawak athletes will have the best opportunity to compete at the highest level.
“Karnival JKR SeMalaysia (SURYA) will see JKR Sarawak participate in 8 out of the 12 games in the event, which are football, netball, volleyball, badminton, tenpin bowling, ping pong, dart and e-sport. The contingent is made up of 120 athletes, coaches and managers, as well as 28 officers and committee members. Kontinjen kami terdiri daripada 120 pemain, jurulatih, dan pengurus, serta 28 pegawai dan urusetia,” said DPW.
In his speech, he had also urged the athletes to show a good fighting spirit while maintaining their discipline in each of the game. He was adamant that all of the hard wors and dedication will bring success to Sarawak and department. Aside from that, JKR Sarawak had also offered to become the host for Karnival JKR SeMalaysia Surya in 2026, which will require full support from the ministry and Sarawak government.
