JKR Sarawak Visit - Disaster Simulation Center for SMART Team, Selangor

JKR Sarawak, led by Ts. Chang Kueh Chin, Deputy Director (Assets Management), had visited the project for Disaster Simulation Site for Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) at Markas SMART, Pulau Meranti, Selangor. The main purpose of the visit is to experience the uniqueness, learn how to manage disaster centre, design works on the simulation training centre and the overall operation. This project is one of the projects under Prime Minister's Office, while National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) is the client agency and SMART Team is the user agency.
Briefing on the functions of the disaster simulation center was delivered by NADMA. The simulation center will be equipped with various modules and facilities to provide a more comprehensive training which can portray the situation as close to the real one as possible. This will allow the SMART team to develop their expertise in this area. Another briefing on the project implementation was led by the Superintending Officer of this project, namely Tuan Azarul Azlan Bin Mohd Radhi, District Engineer (Sepang). The objective of this project is to ensure that the facilities in Markas SMART is safe to be used and can function and operate properly.
The Disaster Simulation Center for Pasukan SMART Malaysia will be the Centre of Excellence (COE) to train search and rescue team throughout the ASEAN region. The modules that will be implemented include Modul Bangunan Runtuhan Penuh, Bangunan Separa Runtuh, Bangunan Condong, Bangunan Runtuhan Pelbagai, Keretapi Bawah Tanah, Hazmat, Kereta kabel, Menara Abseiling, Bilik Simulasi & Kawalan serta Stor and Garaj. Also present during this visit were Deputy Directors, Senior Principal Assistant Directors and senior officers in JKR Sarawak.
