Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Minister of Finance and New Economy II, and Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, today officiated the symbolic connection of the final segment of the Batang Rajang Bridge. This critical infrastructure project will link Sarikei Town, Bintangor, and Tanjung Manis, reducing dependence on the existing Sibu-Tanjung Manis Road while providing a shorter alternative route.

Scheduled for completion in March 2025, the bridge forms part of the Sarawak Government's initiative to complete the Central Sarawak Coastal Road Network, enhancing access to key economic zones and supporting socio-economic growth in coastal areas. "This connection marks a regional milestone that will drive interconnectivity," stated the Deputy Premier.

Projected Travel Reductions:

  • Sarikei to Tanjung Manis: Distance shortened from 122km to 53km (travel time reduced from 2.5 hours to 45 minutes)

  • Bintangor to Tanjung Manis: Distance decreased from 108km to 60km (travel time cut from 2 hours to 1 hour)
