Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak, today officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Teku Pasai Siong-Kemuyang Road project, marking a significant infrastructure milestone for Sibu. In his address, the Premier urged JKR Sarawak to implement Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology to enhance project efficiency and cost-effectiveness during construction. The project, supervised by JKR Sibu, features Sarawak's first Elevated Road technology and includes three key components: construction of a 6.172-kilometer new road linking Jalan Teku Pasai Siong to Kemuyang; upgrading of Jalan Teku Pasai Siong to the Universiti Teknologi Sarawak roundabout into a dual-carriageway; and improvements to the Taman Desa Kemuyang Junction towards Jalan Sibu-Bintulu to JKR R5 standards.

Upon completion, this transformative infrastructure will dramatically reduce travel time between Teku Pasai Siong and Kemuyang from 36 minutes to just 7 minutes, revolutionizing daily commutes for local residents while setting new benchmarks for smart infrastructure development in Sarawak. The project exemplifies Sarawak's commitment to adopting cutting-edge engineering solutions under the Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030, combining innovative elevated road technology with BIM-enabled precision for optimal project delivery.
