Director of Public Works Visits Miri Following Recent Natural Disasters

The Director of Public Works Sarawak chaired the JKR Miri Division Disaster Management Meeting to discuss strategic measures in addressing road infrastructure safety issues caused by adverse weather conditions and landslip occurrences. The meeting was attended by officers from JKR Miri Division and other relevant stakeholders to coordinate immediate actions required to safeguard road users in the affected areas.
Following the meeting, the Director of Public Works Sarawak conducted site visits to several critical locations throughout Miri, including the Pan Borneo Highway at the Eastwood Interchange. The visit aimed to assess the condition of the infrastructure and identify necessary recovery measures that must be implemented promptly. JKR also worked closely with the involved contractors to ensure that repair works could be completed within the stipulated timeframe. As part of the working visit, he also inspected a slope failure incident along Jalan Oil Well No.1.
The Director of Public Works Sarawak emphasised that JKR Sarawak will continue to monitor the situation closely and take immediate action against any incidents that may threaten road safety. He also called for the cooperation of all parties to ensure more effective infrastructure maintenance for the benefit of the public.
