Ground Breaking Ceremony - Jambatan Sungai Ruben, Kampung Mawang Tahup, Serian

The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the New Sg Ruben Bridge Project at Kampung Mawang Tahup, Serian, under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), was successfully held today. The project connects Kampung Mawang Tahup to Kampung Tema and will serve as an alternative route for the surrounding communities. Implemented under the supervision of JKR Sarawak, this initiative forms part of the strategic effort to provide additional road access and create opportunities for local communities to expand economic activities, including agriculture.

The ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Minister for Education, Innovation & Talent Development (MEITD) and ADUN N20 Tarat. Also present were Yang Berhormat Dr Simon Sinang @ Sinang Anak Bada, ADUN N21 Tebedu; Yang Berhormat Datuk Maclaine Ben @ Martin Ben, ADUN N22 Kedup; Datu Ik @ Pahon Anak Joyik, Special Administrative Officer of GKCDA; Puan Caroline Anak Cleophas Joseph, Resident of Serian Division; Ts Meehan Anak Jorai, Deputy Director of Technical Services; and Ir Ts Chiresly Anak Francis Kureng, Divisional Engineer, JKR Serian Division.

The project, expected to be completed by January 2026, is part of infrastructure development initiatives under the GKCDA Programme. It involves the construction of a 54-metre bridge aimed at improving accessibility and connectivity between Kampung Mawang Tahup, Kampung Reteh, and Kampung Tema, while supporting the growth of local economic activities. In line with JKR Sarawak’s new slogan, “We Build For You,” the project is anticipated to accelerate socio-economic development in the Serian area while further strengthening the state’s infrastructure network.
