A total of 148 officers and staff of the Public Works Department Sarawak Betong Division attended the Majlis Amanat Perdana Jurutera Bahagian, an event held in a spirited atmosphere with a strong focus on the department’s strategic direction. The programme commenced with comprehensive presentations by the Assistant Divisional Engineer (Operations) and Assistant Divisional Engineer (Development), who provided in-depth insights into key achievements, current performance, and strategic challenges within their respective sectors. These presentations reflected the department’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-impact projects for the benefit of the public.

Divisional Engineer, Jason Ng Boon Tuan, delivered his keynote address, highlighting the transformation mandate of B-E-T-O-N-G — a framework of values and working principles specifically outlined in alignment with the aspirations of Public Works Department Sarawak in the Betong Division. The mandate emphasises integrity through trustworthiness, accountability in managing public funds, transparency in reporting and technical decisions, and uncompromising adherence to ethics and governance. It also underscores efficiency through disciplined adherence to project schedules and milestones, responsive actions, swift resolution of site issues, and systematic, results-oriented work processes. Firmness is reflected in strict enforcement of contractor performance and accountability, rigorous monitoring of compliance with specifications and standards, and the courage to make professional decisions in the public interest.
In addition, the mandate promotes a strong orientation towards quality through the cultivation of a zero-defect mindset, consistent quality control, and the delivery of safe, high-quality, and sustainable infrastructure. It further highlights the importance of service intent by prioritising public welfare and safety, ensuring projects deliver tangible benefits to communities, and strengthening teamwork and synergy. Finally, it calls for perseverance, encouraging officers and staff to remain committed despite challenges, proactively seek innovative solutions, and continuously enhance their competencies and professionalism. As a symbol of collective commitment, all personnel of the Public Works Department Sarawak Betong Division recited the B-E-T-O-N-G Mandate Pledge with great determination and unity.

The ceremony was further highlighted by the official presentation of the Year Book 2025 JKR Betong themed “From Vision To Reality: JKR Betong Achievements” by Chief Editor, SE Hasrul Nizzah bin Abu Hassan, together with the editorial team. The publication serves as a testament to the department’s capability in translating plans into tangible outcomes. In recognition of outstanding contributions to the department’s sports and social activities, certificates of appreciation were presented to Jerrard Lambert ak Edward, Christina ak Bada, and Khairul Azhar bin Rakli for their dedication and commitment in bringing pride to the department. This event was not merely an annual address, but a declaration of resolve — to strengthen integrity, enhance performance, and empower service delivery for the people, in line with the commitment, “We Build For You.”
