YBhg. Datu Adj. Prof. Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr. Dr. Cassidy anak Morris, Director of Public Works Sarawak, continued the Second Series of the Project Empowerment Visit by reviewing the progress of the Sungai Peluan Bridge repair project in the Long Banga area, Baram. The bridge forms part of a broader rehabilitation initiative involving several bridges in the Baram region, including Sungai Merawa Bridge, Sungai Balong Bridge and the Long Banga–Bario route, aimed at improving the safety and usability of the road network in remote areas.

The scope of the project involves replacing ageing and deteriorated bridge structures with new steel bridges to provide safer, more efficient and resilient connectivity for road users. Sungai Peluan Bridge has now been fully completed and opened for public use, bringing significant benefits to local residents while strengthening transportation connectivity within the interior areas of Baram. The visit also served to ensure that project implementation proceeds smoothly and in accordance with the stipulated specifications and schedule, in line with the government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure development in rural areas of Sarawak.
