AUDIT BRANCH ENGAGEMENT SESSION WITH JKR SARAWAK DIVISIONAL OFFICES (SESSION 1)

Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) Sarawak, through its Audit Branch at Headquarters, organised an Engagement Session with JKR Sarawak Divisional Offices (Session 1) at Mercure Hotel, Miri. The programme was aimed at providing greater exposure to the roles, functions, and scope of work of the Audit Branch, while enhancing understanding of audit processes and compliance requirements in project implementation. The session also served as a platform to obtain feedback on issues and challenges encountered at the divisional level, thereby strengthening strategic collaboration between the Audit Branch and audited entities.

The programme commenced with a welcoming address by Dr. Lai Phui Hua, Senior Assistant Director (Audit), representing the Director of Public Works Sarawak. In her address, she emphasised the importance of compliance with audit procedures and highlighted the role of auditing as an internal control mechanism to ensure transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in the delivery of infrastructure projects. Throughout the programme, participants attended a series of presentations covering audits on the management and maintenance of government quarters, emergency works audits, small project management audits, project facilities management audits, and the strategic direction of the Audit Branch for 2026.

The programme attracted approximately 60 participants comprising JKR Sarawak officers from various divisions. Initiatives such as this reflect JKR Sarawak’s continued commitment to strengthening governance, enhancing integrity, and ensuring more efficient and effective service delivery for the benefit of the people.
