DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS SARAWAK ATTENDS OFFICIAL OPENING OF UNIFOR COMPLEX

The Director of Public Works Sarawak, YBhg. Datu Adj. Prof. Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr. Dr. Cassidy anak Morris, attended the official opening ceremony of the UNIFOR Complex, which was officiated by the Premier of Sarawak, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg. The ceremony was held in a grand and festive atmosphere and was attended by distinguished guests and dignitaries from various sectors. The event was enlivened by a series of captivating performances, including demonstrations featuring modern technologies such as robotics, reflecting Sarawak’s aspirations towards innovation-driven growth and digital transformation. These elements complemented the occasion and highlighted the state’s commitment to embracing advanced technologies as part of its development agenda.

The newly completed UNIFOR Complex represents a significant initiative by the Sarawak Government to further strengthen interfaith harmony and unity across the state. Its contemporary architectural design and thoughtfully planned interior spaces embody the rich cultural diversity that defines Sarawak’s multicultural society. The building has also been developed in accordance with Green Building Index (GBI) standards, incorporating sustainable features such as energy-efficient systems, enhanced natural lighting and optimised ventilation, in line with Sarawak’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship.

In terms of facilities, the complex comprises a nine-storey office building featuring spacious office accommodation, an executive lounge complete with function rooms, a rooftop garden, a banquet hall capable of accommodating up to 1,000 guests, commercial units and parking facilities equipped with electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Shared amenities, including function rooms and the rooftop garden, have also been made available for use by various houses of worship, providing a platform for community activities and fostering greater social interaction among Sarawak’s diverse religious communities.
