For the first time in its history, the Public Works Department Sarawak, through its Sarikei Division, hosted the Perhimpunan Bulanan JKR Bahagian Bil. 1/2025. The event was held with full ceremonial formality, featuring an official marching contingent and the raising of the JKR Sarawak flag. The symbolic ceremony not only marked the introduction of a new tradition but also reflected the department’s commitment to strengthening discipline, professionalism and teamwork across its workforce.

Held under the theme “Kualiti & Inovasi, Teras Kecemerlangan JKR Sarawak”, the gathering signalled a dynamic start to the year following the department’s strong performance in 2024. Last year, the Public Works Department Sarawak successfully delivered state infrastructure projects on schedule and recorded improved customer satisfaction ratings. The introduction of the digital project monitoring system, the Building Information System (BIM), further enhanced operational efficiency and fieldwork management. In his address, the Director of Public Works Sarawak emphasised that the department’s achievements represent more than statistics—they reflect the efficiency and dedication of all personnel. He urged officers and staff to continue innovating, enhancing their competencies and prioritising high-quality service delivery for the people of Sarawak.

Beyond enhancing professionalism in the engineering sector, the Public Works Department Sarawak also demonstrated its commitment to community well-being. During the event, the department presented a contribution to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Balong, Sarikei as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. This effort underscores the department’s dedication not only to physical development but also to empowering local communities through impactful social programmes. With its strong performance and spirit of service, the Public Works Department Sarawak continues to demonstrate that it is not merely a technical agency, but a key driver of the state’s growth in line with Sarawak’s aspiration to become a developed state by 2030.
